This body of work explores architecture and design as instruments of inclusion.
The research investigates how relatively simple spatial interventions can support orientation, touch, listening, interaction and more inclusive experiences of space.
01 — Tactile Orientation Tiles
This investigation explores how tactile surfaces can create a simple and adaptable language of orientation.
Three patterns were developed: grooves guide movement, raised studs signal thresholds, and concentric circles mark arrival points.
The tiles were developed through analytical sketches, clean digital visualizations and small-scale prototypes.
The prototype tests the tactile patterns in material form, focusing on relief and recognition through touch.
The investigation demonstrates how tactile cues can support accessibility across different spatial contexts.
02 — Modular Seating Blocks with Braille
This investigation proposes lightweight, portable seating blocks that combine tactile accessibility with contemporary form.
Each module combines a body with a mineral finish and a wooden top.
Raised studs form Braille inscriptions in Arabic and English, or non-linguistic tactile rhythms.
The blocks are conceived for adaptable use in public and cultural spaces and other collective environments.
The first prototype was developed in Dakar to test texture, proportion, weight and tactile legibility.
The project explores how furniture can become an instrument of inclusion, dialogue and collective encounter.
03 — Sensory Wall: Spatial Beacon
The Sensory Wall is a modular, multisensory guide designed to support arrival, orientation and pause.
Through relief patterns, contrasting visual bands and soft acoustic inserts, it develops a tactile and visual language accessible to a wide range of users.
Inspired by inclusive design principles, the prototype explores low-cost materials and reversible construction.
Through sketching, visualization and physical modelling, the project investigates how a wall can act as a spatial beacon adaptable to different sites and needs.
04 — Soft Echo Baffles
Soft Echo Baffles explore how lightweight textile panels can reduce reverberation in reflective spaces.
Made from cotton fabric with a simple padded core, the panels are removable, reversible and low-cost, allowing them to adapt to different contexts.
The project investigates how subtle spatial interventions can improve sound clarity, support inclusive listening and provide a flexible approach to acoustic comfort.
The existing scale model explores materiality and form as a first step toward future real-world testing.
